Do not be alarmed by the negative ratings given here.
Problem wih peripheral support on a PC can always happen, but this seems to be an isolated experience - I never had such problem with mine.
It is also true that the heart rate is difficult to read, BY DEFAULT. But you can change the default display layout and have the rate displayed larger, if you wish. If you only need an HRM, the 305 is poor value. But as an all-in-on device, it is great! And the fact that it can be used when biking and with accessories (cadence sensor...) is even better.
My only complaints are that 1) side buttons are a bit hard to press and 2) you better stand still before having a GPS fix or it may take a very long time to acquire position. Normal but annoying when your mates are waiting for you starting to run.
All in all, I am very satisfied. I recommend using the SportTracks freeware with it, which is better than Garmin's own soft.
